It is very easy in our hectic life today to forget small things, things that actually count. Couple of weeks ago I was sitting at a local beach bar in my hometown Split. It was one of those perfect summer days..couple of good friends, coffee, wonderful sea view… At that moment I realized how happy I am to be born in this wonderful Mediterranean country. There is something special in Mediterranean culture and way of living – easy going atmosphere, beautiful sunny days…wild temperaments, fantastic food…I wouldn’t trade it for nothing!
I love to travel and discover new places, but I have spacial attraction for the places near the sea, which explains my love for Lisbon and Barcelona π !
I’m always telling that I can live just about anywhere, but not without the sea view π
Today’s post is an homage to wonderful Mediterranean ladies and fashion, hope you’ll enjoy it π !

True Mediterranean – pine trees, sea view, sunshine, and coffee with friends – what more can a person ask?
True Mediterranean divas – Italian actresses Gina Lollobrigida and Sophia Loren.
These two actresses were among the first ones who brought a dash of Mediterranean passion and beauty to the Hollywood machinery, never loosing the sense of their background.
Beautiful ladies from various 50s fashion magazines
I love the accidental similarity of these two pictures, left one from the Anabella fashion magazine from 1954., and the right one from the recent fashion photoshoot
On the left, Vogue photoshoot from the 50s.
On the right is one of my all time favorite actresses, beautiful Romy Schneider, in pause while filming 1969. movie, “La Piscine”. Movie is a true classic, check it out!
Seventies photo shoot and a recent editorial by a model Natalia Vodianova
Late 60s models by Italian designer Emilio Pucci

Loving the styling …from us gals at Mimi’s loft .
Love that era of elegance and classic femininity.
Miss Dee, you are so blessed to live beside the Mediterranean and have that lifestyle.
The Uk can be beautiful when the sun shines as it has done this summer but we fly to the Med every chance we get!
enjoy!!!!
Thank you so much girls π ! It really is easy to forget to me and my friends how lucky we are to be born in this wonderful Mediterranean country – this summer the weather is crazy and is constantly raining so maybe I should pay a visit to UK to find some sunshine π ! Kisses from Dalmatia!
I love Gina L. and Sofia Loren. My mother use to talk about them and other actress and fashion icons of this time a lot to me.I have been in love in 50’s and 60’s fashion style since I was little girl. I am Bulgarian and the Mediterranean Fashion shaped my personal style. Unfortunately it is very hard to keep it up that style here in U.S.

I agree with you Daniela, those ladies were true women and fashion icons – I’m a big fan of the 50s and I always try to incorporate it in my personal style!
