Black & Green

Hello there my dear readers and fellow bloggers, long time no see 😉 🙂 !

Since becoming a Mom a year and half ago I find it quite difficult to organize my time and prepare new blog posts, but hopefully, as my baby girl gets bigger I  will manage to devote more time to my fashion ventures.

Couple of years ago I was putting a lot of effort into my outfits, but these days the most important thing is (*shudders*) practicality. This dress was a gift from my dear friend and fashion inspiration, Helena from POPPY Design. In times when I don’t have time to think what will I wear I just put on this wonderful dress and I’m ready to go!

For me, It’s the perfect combo of my favorite colors, black and green, and I tend to pair it with my “Kiss by Gustav Klimt” handbag which I made couple of years ago. Since Helena was a person who gave me my first sewing materials and encouraged me to make my own handbags I found this dress and bag a perfect match!

Kisses from Dina and my wonderful photographer Stela!

Path of the Elves

Everyone who knows me could confirm you I am not very much of a nature girl. But from time to time, especially in December, my favorite book and movie, “Lord of the Rings”, always come to mind and my inner Elf just wants to go out and feel the sky, trees and fresh air…

B – movie Halloween

Here in Croatia we usually don’t celebrate Halloween because we have our own masquerade parties in February, but if we have excuse to dress up in costumes two time in one year – why not 😉 ?

The Celts, who lived 2,000 years ago in the area that is now Ireland, the United Kingdom and northern France, celebrated their new year on November 1. They believed that on the night before the new year, the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred. On the night of October 31 they celebrated Samhain, when it was believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth.

Irish immigrants fleeing Ireland’s potato famine of 1846, helped to popularize the celebration of Halloween in USA. Taking from Irish and English traditions, Americans began to dress up in costumes and go house to house asking for food or money, a practice that eventually became today’s “trick-or-treat” tradition.

I’m a big fan of 40s and 50s B (B standing for a low budget) horror movies, especially of those which are so campy that you and up laughing instead of being scared, but tonight we plan to spend the evening watching our favorite B Horror flick made in 70s- Rocky Horror Picture Show, favorite midnight movie in USA for last 40 years.
And if you need some inspiration, one of our favorite geek sites, Loot Crate, who offers monthly subscription boxes,  has a great space Invasion crate, do check it out!
Hope you’ll enjoy the pictures 😉

DEE-constructed

I was always such a fashion fanatic, but after I started to learn the craft of sewing I realized just how hard is to make a wearable piece of clothing. Since then I have much more appreciation for “behind the scenes” work which takes in designing and making our everyday outfits.

Designing is a 3D art, and you have to be careful how will your design look from different corners. Technology today allows designers to make gravity defying clothes, with new material and sewing machines coming along every day.

I adore Dior haute couture constructed gowns from the 40s and futuristic fashion of the 60s, where construction became an important element of design.

Hope you’ll enjoy some of my favorites, along with new pics taken by Miss Stela 🙂 !

Brocade Enthusiast

Being a total “Game of Thrones” fan, but also a fashion enthusiast, I had to notice fantastic brocade outfits which are featured in this TV show. Brocade is a rich silk material which was only reserved for nobility.

My love for fashion brand Desigual started the moment I saw their fantastic brocade patchwork coats. They are a little pieces of fashion art and in them you won’t go unnoticed :)!

Hope you’ll like today’s outfit and some tidbits from fashion history!

Back in Yellow !

Finally, after a long break, arrives my first post pregnancy post 🙂 ! First of all, I have to thank my friends Stela and Ivna for keeping this little blog alive with their amazing posts while I was trying to figure out my new mommy role.

My little baby girl Ena is now three and a half months old, and she has become our new partner whenever Stela and I manage some time to do photo shoots.

I thought it is appropriate to start this new fashion blogger / Ena’s mommy adventure in my colorful style – and which color is the best one two announce new life, new energy, new start? Of course, it’s splash of yellow!

Yellow is the color that captures our attention more than any other color. In almost every culture yellow represents sunshine, happiness, and warmth. It is the most visible color of the spectrum and the human eye processes yellow first. This explains why it is used for cautionary signs and emergency rescue vehicles.

It’s a primary color and so it’s the base of endless shades of colors. Yellow remains full, pure, and immune to all chromatic contamination.

It’s not an easy color to wear, and it looks better in contrast with black – add just a little bit of yellow to your everyday outfit, and trust me, you WILL be noticed 🙂

Enough with the small talk, let’s show you some pictures!

Everyone I meet, even random people on the street ask me about Ena’s pushchair. It’s by the fantastic British brand Cosatto, and it was love at first sight!
