Here in Croatia we usually don’t celebrate Halloween because we have our own masquerade parties in February, but if we have excuse to dress up in costumes two time in one year – why not 😉 ?
The Celts, who lived 2,000 years ago in the area that is now Ireland, the United Kingdom and northern France, celebrated their new year on November 1. They believed that on the night before the new year, the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred. On the night of October 31 they celebrated Samhain, when it was believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth.
Irish immigrants fleeing Ireland’s potato famine of 1846, helped to popularize the celebration of Halloween in USA. Taking from Irish and English traditions, Americans began to dress up in costumes and go house to house asking for food or money, a practice that eventually became today’s “trick-or-treat” tradition.
I’m a big fan of 40s and 50s B (B standing for a low budget) horror movies, especially of those which are so campy that you and up laughing instead of being scared, but tonight we plan to spend the evening watching our favorite B Horror flick made in 70s- Rocky Horror Picture Show, favorite midnight movie in USA for last 40 years.

Finally, after a long break, arrives my first post pregnancy post 🙂 ! First of all, I have to thank my friends Stela and Ivna for keeping this little blog alive with their amazing posts while I was trying to figure out my new mommy role.
My little baby girl Ena is now three and a half months old, and she has become our new partner whenever Stela and I manage some time to do photo shoots.
I thought it is appropriate to start this new fashion blogger / Ena’s mommy adventure in my colorful style – and which color is the best one two announce new life, new energy, new start? Of course, it’s splash of yellow!
Yellow is the color that captures our attention more than any other color. In almost every culture yellow represents sunshine, happiness, and warmth. It is the most visible color of the spectrum and the human eye processes yellow first. This explains why it is used for cautionary signs and emergency rescue vehicles.
It’s a primary color and so it’s the base of endless shades of colors. Yellow remains full, pure, and immune to all chromatic contamination.
It’s not an easy color to wear, and it looks better in contrast with black – add just a little bit of yellow to your everyday outfit, and trust me, you WILL be noticed 🙂
Enough with the small talk, let’s show you some pictures!
Everyone I meet, even random people on the street ask me about Ena’s pushchair. It’s by the fantastic British brand Cosatto, and it was love at first sight!
It’s time for some Autumn colors, patterned tights and road trippin’ 🙂 ! Ivna visited one of my favorite Croatian cities – Zadar. Hope you’ll enjoy her post!
Kisses, Dee
Hi, It’s Ivna!
There is one day every month which makes me feel very happy and fulfilled. There is no planning or discussions – we just choose a potential destination and go.
It is the road trip day.
Great company, hours of driving, good music, girlie dresses and the Saturday is on!
Something about the Autumn and the way we dress makes it look like a scene from our favorite films. Leaves on the ground, trees going to their sleep. Sun & rain, windy cool weather. Crispy mornings, heads tucked in collars, hands fidgeting in pockets. Sipping hot drinks in bohemian artsy or posh bars. Hot coffees to go on rushed cold mornings.
In keeping with this season and our love of all things ’70s, it’s only natural that the color of choice is brown, but this potentially drab shade can be liven up with rich colors like maroon or copper. The whole style is not finished without patterned stockings – accessory that makes every combination more interesting.
This road trip was special to me because we went to Zadar, city where I have studied for almost 6 years. There are always some special feelings which pass through me every time when I come back – sweet memories indeed. Let’s take a walk through some interesting city spots.
First should be University, of course. The university in its current modern form was founded in 2002 but can trace its lineage to 1396, thus making it one of the oldest in Europe. As you can see, its location is remarkable.
These are taken just in front of University building, featuring the statue of Špiro Brusina.
Brusina was an expert in natural sciences and founder of ornithology in Croatia. He was also a zoologist, explorer, cultural and public official. A man for all seasons indeed!
What secrets does that shell contain?
Brusina is not the only famous man important for the city. In May 1964, Alfred Hitchcock checked into Room 204 of the classic and now closed Hotel Zagreb on the waterfront in Zadar. The hotel’s location was one of the best in town and it was from there that the famed director opined that
“The sunset of Zadar is the world’s most beautiful and incomparably better than in Key West, Florida.”
This is the view which I have seen many times while working long hours at the University. Real reward of nature for tired minds and souls after a hard days work.
Beside the University, there are a lot of interesting sights to see. Generally, Zadar is one of the runaway success stories of the Croatian Adriatic, combining ancient and medieval heritage with a bustling café life, vibrant bar scene and the kind of go-ahead architectural projects (such as the Sea Organ and the Greeting to the Sun) that give the seafront the appearance of a contemporary art installation. It is a wonderful place to enjoy, relax, read, swim… or with a touch of darkness experience romantic views.
Another must see is the church of St. Donat. It is located on the town’s ancient main square (dating back from the Roman times) – known as the Forum.
And now for the details!

If last autumn brought sweaters into focus and crazy printed styles were massive, today it’s more about pastels, monochromatic sweaters, softer fabrics, muted colors (grey, whites, blues, pinks) with chunky, cable knit and over sized designs. So basically the wild prints are a bit dated, but even those I think are great. Don’t do trends per se, you know. Do what you feel like: over sized, metallic, turtleneck, chunky, cable knit, pastels, one colored, fuzzy or whatever. All can be used to be your own style statement.
Hello everyone!
No, it’s not Miss Dee, but rather her loyal photographer/friend Stela. I’ll start the post of a happy note and say that Miss Dee and her hubby became proud parents of a gorgeous baby girl on August 18th, 2015! Congratulations Miss Dee!
I’m a big fan of printed T-shirts, and I truly don’t know how many of them is there in my collection, but this newest addition just took my breath away – even pictures with high resolution camera don’t do justice to this beautiful skyline themed print.
It was such a boring rainy winter day when I got this T-shirt, and it instantly gave me an idea for the look of this blog post – sea and the sky, clash of blue and white, first hint of Summer days which are just behind the corner.
All the pictures were taken in my beautiful hometown Split, true heaven on Earth for those of us who know how to appreciate it.
Today’s post was inspired by one of my all time favorite TV-series, “Breaking Bad”. “Breaking Bad” tells the story of Walter White, fantastically portrayed by versatile Bryan Cranston, a struggling high school chemistry teacher diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer, who, together with his former student Jesse Pinkman, portrayed by Aaron Paul, turns to a life of crime, producing and selling crystallized methamphetamine to secure his family’s financial future before he dies.
That would be a really short info on a TV-series which for months kept me captivated with it’s amazing storyline and characters. You will often laugh at these characters, question their morality and eventually even hate them, but you cannot deny the sheer brilliance behind it!
This “Heisenberg” T-shirt by Choies (Heisenberg being the alias of Walter White) was such a great and unexpected gift. I decided to combine it with my version of Walter’s trademark black hat, blue suede heels and skirt with blue tulle detail – color of their product, crystal meth.
Couple of weeks ago I decided to make a collage of all the handbags, shoes and jewelry I wore in my posts till this date. I already published handbags post (What About that Bag?), and enjoyed so much in making today’s post – it is really great to see all these shoes in one place!
I choose the title of the post after an e-mail address of true shoe maniac, one and only Miss Carrie Bradshaw from TV-series Sex and The City.
So my questions are – How many shoes do you have, which shoe style do you prefer and what are your favorites in my collection?
I recently visited beautiful Bosnian city – Mostar, and thanks to my dear friend Helena, who lives there and runs my favorites, “Poppy Bags”, I discovered perfect store which sells only American brands, including one of my new favorites – “Pink Martini Collection”. I fell in love with their amazing retro clothing, but because my poor closet is on the verge of bursting I bought only this beautiful wool printed dress.
My photographer Stela and I always try to find new locations for our photo shoots. We live in really beautiful, but rather small city, so that isn’t always an easy task, especially considering the fact that we just recently published our 70th post! This dress is so vibrant and full of colors, so Stela had an idea of using totally minimalistic background – these long hallways in one of Split’s biggest buildings was just the perfect location for the pictures – hope you will like them!
I usually do my photo shoots during the weekend – that is the only time of the week when my dear photographer Stela and I have enough time to meet up and take the pictures. Of course, nice weather is always a plus in our blogger escapades! This weekend I got sick with a stomach flu and all our plans had to be postponed. Because of that I decided to realize an idea I had for a while – make a collage of all of my handbags, shoes and jewelry that I wore in former blog posts – today I started with my favorites – the bags 🙂 !
I’m really happy that among my handbag collection is a large number of handmade products and that some of them have found their new owners. But one thing is for sure – you won’t find one quite “normal” model among this collection!
How many bags do you have, and what are your favorites in my collection?
