Tree of Life

On September 25th I turned the big 30 🙂 ! Prior to my 30th birthday I started to wonder a little bit more than usual about my life choices so far. There were always some bad ones and a lot of good ones, but all of them shaped me in the person I am today. One thing I learned (and even have it as a tattoo on my back!) is to never be afraid of making choices and decisions. “Show yourself, destroy your fears, release your mask!” are powerful verses from the Queen’s song Innuendo, and I try to remember them and incorporate them in my everyday life.

I was so touched with one of my birthday presents – handbag with motif of “Tree of Life” – quite appropriate for my jubilee birthday. Tree of life is a symbol of a connection between ourselves, nature and the whole universe we live in. I cannot wait to see what my very own tree of life is preparing for me in the future 🙂 .

This beyond beautiful “Tree of Life” themed handbag was specially made for my 30th birthday by wonderful Maja, mother of my friend and photographer Stela. I was very humbled for receiving this wonderful gift… every single leaf was hand-stitched!

The concept of a tree of life has been used in biology, religion, philosophy, and mythology from the earliest cultures until today.  It alludes to the interconnection of all life on our planet and serves as a metaphor for common descent in the evolutionary sense.

The tree of knowledge, connecting to heaven and the underworld, and the tree of life, connecting all forms of creation, are both forms of the world tree or cosmic tree.

  1. I know I agree that all of our past choices really make who we are today! Be it good or bad we have made it to today and have learnt from it! I just love that bag that you got as a gift and I really like what it represents! That tunic dress is fantastic too and such a great find on ebay!

  2. ja sam danas razmišljala o stablu života, njegovim metaforama i o jeziku….baš zanimljivo!
