Brocade Enthusiast

Being a total “Game of Thrones” fan, but also a fashion enthusiast, I had to notice fantastic brocade outfits which are featured in this TV show. Brocade is a rich silk material which was only reserved for nobility.

My love for fashion brand Desigual started the moment I saw their fantastic brocade patchwork coats. They are a little pieces of fashion art and in them you won’t go unnoticed :)!

Hope you’ll like today’s outfit and some tidbits from fashion history!

Kisses, Dina

Back in Yellow !

Finally, after a long break, arrives my first post pregnancy post πŸ™‚ ! First of all, I have to thank my friends Stela and Ivna for keeping this little blog alive with their amazing posts while I was trying to figure out my new mommy role.

My little baby girl Ena is now three and a half months old, and she has become our new partner whenever Stela and I manage some time to do photo shoots.

I thought it is appropriate to start this new fashion blogger / Ena’s mommy adventure in my colorful style – and which color is the best one two announce new life, new energy, new start? Of course, it’s splash of yellow!

Yellow is the color that captures our attention more than any other color. In almost every culture yellow represents sunshine, happiness, and warmth. It is the most visible color of the spectrum and the human eye processes yellow first. This explains why it is used for cautionary signs and emergency rescue vehicles.

It’s a primary color and so it’s the base of endless shades of colors. Yellow remains full, pure, and immune to all chromatic contamination.

It’s not an easy color to wear, and it looks better in contrast with black – add just a little bit of yellow to your everyday outfit, and trust me, you WILL be noticed πŸ™‚

Enough with the small talk, let’s show you some pictures!

Everyone I meet, even random people on the street ask me about Ena’s pushchair. It’s by the fantastic British brand Cosatto, and it was love at first sight!

Baby Pink

One of my favorite fashion blogs is the one written by Miss Rebecca – “Winnipeg Style”. She has such a quirky and colorful style which I adore. Thanks to her post “Perfect Fall Coat” I discovered this wonderful Fall/Winter coat by brand Choies and totally fell in love with it. Rebecca bought hers in blue, but I wanted to do something totally opposite of my usual color choices and go with one color which is rarely seen in my wardrobe – pink.

I hated to wear anything pink as a child, but after long 30 years I finally decided to give that color a chance! What do you think about my baby pink coat and what are your feelings towards this girlie color?

Kisses and have a great weekend!

Dee

Tree of Life

On September 25th I turned the big 30 πŸ™‚ ! Prior to my 30th birthday I started to wonder a little bit more than usual about my life choices so far. There were always some bad ones and a lot of good ones, but all of them shaped me in the person I am today. One thing I learned (and even have it as a tattoo on my back!) is to never be afraid of making choices and decisions. “Show yourself, destroy your fears, release your mask!” are powerful verses from the Queen’s song Innuendo, and I try to remember them and incorporate them in my everyday life.

I was so touched with one of my birthday presents – handbag with motif of “Tree of Life” – quite appropriate for my jubilee birthday. Tree of life is a symbol of a connection between ourselves, nature and the whole universe we live in. I cannot wait to see what my very own tree of life is preparing for me in the future πŸ™‚ .

Crazy Little Thing Called LOVE ! – second wedding anniversary

I love September – It is my favorite month…not because I celebrate my birthday at the end of the month….I love it because I married the love of my love on that wonderful day, September 8th 2012.Β  πŸ™‚ !

My husband Marko and I wanted our wedding day to be relaxed and full of laughter, dance, good food and good music and to be shared with our closest family and friends. After seven years of relationship, and basically growing up together, we knew that in our wedding day we must stay true to ourselves. We wanted the outdoor venue, and we were blessed with a beautiful weather that day. The whole wedding had a vintage vibe – when you see our outfits you will get the picture! My favorite color is green and the whole wedding theme was green and white. We both love to dance and our first dance as a married couple was our little rendition of “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” by the group Queen – my all time favorite band.

Enough for introduction..hope you’ll enjoy selection of some of my favorite pics of that wonderful day…and read something about the history of modern day wedding dresses!

Plastic Fantastic

Last Spring you couldn’t turn around without seeing someone with plastic handbag or some kind of plastic accessories. Plastic materials were see-through or in all color variations popular for Spring, like greens and yellows…I wasn’t particular fan of that trend, but after some time I caught a plastic virus πŸ™‚ . I love to wear plastic jewelry, especially all kinds of plastic rings and bracelets – they remind me so much on my childhood. You can wear most serious outfit, but add some plastic to it and you will find your inner child in a matter of seconds!

Splendor in the grass

Every year during the Spring/Summer season we have one recurring fashion trend – flower prints. And boy, do I love that trend! Every year has some trend variations – one season there are tribal prints, other vintage feel of the 50s. It is easy to go overboard, so don’t use different flower fabrics in the same outfit. I will occasionally wear flower prints during the winter, probably on some jumpers or coats, just to cheer things up, but the Spring season is perfect one to empty out all of the flowers from your wardrobe and say hello to warm, sunny days πŸ™‚ !

A Night At The Theatre

Every year Β the Symphonic orchestra of the Croatian National Theatre in Split has its traditional New Year concerts three days in a row – those are always the last three theatre programs of the year.

This year I was fortunate enough to be a part of the theatre audience on the second of those three wonderful evenings, with my faithful friends and blog helpers πŸ™‚ Nina and Stela.

We enjoyed the wonderful music selection: Johan Strauss the son,Β  Jacques Offenbach, Franz von Suppe, and many more famous compositors. Visit to the theatre was also an opportunity to dress at our very best – evening dresses, silk gloves, high heels, chiffon, beads, pearls….theatre binoculars – you name it, we had it πŸ™‚ ! Those kind of evenings are a wonderful opportunity to experience something rather different from our everyday outings. They remind us of the old times when the meaning of having a good time was a visit to the theatre, and not to some smoke and booze filled club…

But the most prestigious New Year concert is definitely the one performed by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra that takes place each year in the morning of New Year’s Day in Vienna, Austria. Ballet dancers, who perform through several compositions during the concert, are dressed by prestigious fashion designers. Hopefully, we will also have an opportunity to be a part of that wonderful concert one day.
