Being a total “Game of Thrones” fan, but also a fashion enthusiast, I had to notice fantastic brocade outfits which are featured in this TV show. Brocade is a rich silk material which was only reserved for nobility.
My love for fashion brand Desigual started the moment I saw their fantastic brocade patchwork coats. They are a little pieces of fashion art and in them you won’t go unnoticed :)!
Hope you’ll like today’s outfit and some tidbits from fashion history!

Brocade in Fashion:
Brocades are fabric with an elaborate embossed or embroidered surface effect, usually with different ground and pattern weaves. The name comes from the Italian brocatto, meaning ’embossed cloth’.
Brocade originates from Byzantium. Before appearance of velvet in northern Europe, brocade was the most noble of fabrics due to the primary element, silk, which was hard to come by and its extravagant embroidery using gold and silver thread as well as jewels.

In the late Middle Ages and the Renaissance, Italy was the most renowned producer of brocade with nobles and royalty from all of Europe paying extraordinary amounts for achieving their regal look.

Today, brocade and it’s sister fabrics like jacquard and damask are more popular than ever, being an inspiration for rich regal looks by Prada, Valentino, Dolce and Gabbanna and many more!
