Split Falling

My maternity leave is still on, but there’s no need to worry, there are many new blog post ideas in this crazy head of mine 🙂 ! Until then, enjoy this new excellent blog post by Miss Stela and Miss Ivna 🙂 !

Well, fall is most certantly here. Yet, one of the most enchanting parts of early fall, at least here on the Mediterranean, is the fact that the sea is still hot enough to go swimming. Tell us, what could be better than having coffee in the city center and then enjoying an outing to the beach?

You have to dresses in style, and nothing is better suited for these “last days of the summer wine” as a breezy, simple white lace dress! Let’s take a look at what Ivna wore and how!

Instant Chic

Three weeks ago one of my favorite Croatian designers, Robert Sever, launched a small capsule collection of clothing and accessories named “Instant Chic”. This beautiful and affordable collection was made in collaboration with main Croatian fashion internet page –  FASHION.HR, and sold in BIPA stores.

I couldn’t wait for the collection to come to the stores, and when it did it was everything I could hope for – trendy, chic, unique and elegant. My absolute favorites are beautiful printed belt and matching purse with tassel detail, trendy fringe belt and this simple but oh so perfect black and grey dress – perfect for the day at the job, but also for the evening outing!

Besides my take on this beautiful collection you can also check out some pictures and advices for the one trend that just keeps on going this season – use of fringe and tassels in our everyday clothing items. In the beginning I wasn’t the biggest fan of this trend, but later I started to love it – only if used with measure of course 😉 !

Hope you’ll like it!

Kisses, Dee

Autumn Leaves

Autumn is my favorite time of the year. Here, in my hometown Split and surrounding area, we are mostly blessed with warm and sunny days – a perfect balance between the hot summer and cold winter.

But the colors!! I just love them. It is truly nature at it’s best – green, yellow, red and orange…heaven for my eyes. So today’s post is my homage to the wonderful Autumn shades – enjoy!

Kisses, Dee.

Flapper Girl

In the last couple of months I have revived my love for one specific movie genre – musicals. The last one I watched has been „Cabaret“, starring Liza Minnelli, who won an Oscar for best actress for her performance in 1972.

I’m so amazed by her movie styling – short bob haircut, huge eyelashes and intensive make-up with some amazing outfits. I especially love her „flapper 20s“ styling in „Money“ musical number.

Equestrians do it better

Today’s outfit came into my head the moment I found this green Zara coat…when I saw it,  it instantly had a certain vibe which involved countryside, rainy and cloudy weather…with a touch of English aristocracy – well I have certainly read a lot of books and watched numerous films with English aristocrats as main characters  to know it!

Equestrian look today isn’t reserved only for professionals – it is quite normal to see horse-riders inspired looks and accessoires in street fashion and on the runways. The look is very elegant, and perfect for cloudy and cold days. The main parts of the look are quality well-tailored coats and jackets, vests, fitted trousers, and high leather boots – I can bet that almost every girl has some variation of this look. Maybe in our everyday outings we don’t wear high hats, veils and whips, which were a common part of this look in the early 20th century, but equestrian look and its variations will definitely never go out of fashion!

She Wore Blue Velvet

„Blue Velvet“, film noir by David Lynch, is one of those movies that you love or hate – myself being in the first group. The film brought back long forgotten „noir“ genre for a new film audience, with a very important role of its music soundtrack and fashion. Until main femme fatale Isabella Rosselini had appeared in her blue velvet robe, the velvet wasn’t very popular material, but since then it has had its fashion revival. Every couple of years fashion designers give their hommage to blue velvet and the movie itself, with good or not so great results. Velvet is rather difficult fabric to work with, and not very easy to pull off when wearing – you certainly won’t wear it in your ordinary everyday outings. It is perfect for evening wear, and even today stands as a symbol of flamboyance with a touch of mistery, for which we all yearn in our lives.
