Back in Yellow !

Finally, after a long break, arrives my first post pregnancy post ๐Ÿ™‚ ! First of all, I have to thank my friends Stela and Ivna for keeping this little blog alive with their amazing posts while I was trying to figure out my new mommy role.

My little baby girl Ena is now three and a half months old, and she has become our new partner whenever Stela and I manage some time to do photo shoots.

I thought it is appropriate to start this new fashion blogger / Ena’s mommy adventure in my colorful style – and which color is the best one two announce new life, new energy, new start? Of course, it’s splash of yellow!

Yellow is the color that captures our attention more than any other color. In almost every culture yellow represents sunshine, happiness, and warmth. It is the most visible color of the spectrum and the human eye processes yellow first. This explains why it is used for cautionary signs and emergency rescue vehicles.

It’s a primary color and so it’s the base of endless shades of colors. Yellow remains full, pure, and immune to all chromatic contamination.

It’s not an easy color to wear, and it looks better in contrast with black – add just a little bit of yellow to your everyday outfit, and trust me, you WILL be noticed ๐Ÿ™‚

Enough with the small talk, let’s show you some pictures!

Everyone I meet, even random people on the street ask me about Ena’s pushchair. It’s by the fantastic British brand Cosatto, and it was love at first sight!

Stockings Time

One of the things I really adore, and love to have an opportunity to wear in these cold days are stockings and tights. My collection is quite big, and while I have the classic ones in black, I always tend to buy those with some extra color or print on them (what a surprise ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) ! This pair in mustard yellow is my favorite – perfect color to fight of dark winter shades, but also incredibly warm and comfortable!

Do you love to wear stockings or just avoid them all together, do tell !

Kisses from Miss Dee ๐Ÿ™‚ !

PS. Thank you my dear husband for being photographer for a day ! :*

Walking the A-line

One of the main lady trends in the last couple of seasons is a true 50s classic – A line skirt. Usually reserved for those who love rockabilly subculture, A – line once again conquered fashion runways, and after that the streets.

A – line skirts are very feminine clothing item but I was a bit skeptical about wearing them – I have classical pear body shape and I didn’t want to draw to much of an attention on my hip area. But when I saw this wonderful printed skirt online I just couldn’t resist – she instantly reminded me on an old 50s movies and actresses I just love to watch!

All pictures were taken on Riva in my hometown Split, on a bit cold but wonderful sunny day ๐Ÿ™‚ !

Kisses, Dee

Cloche hats and Green-eyed Cats

Having a short hair has its benefits. If you are always late and running from one place to another like me, it is really a perfect style – you can wash and dry it in a matter of minutes, without loosing to much of that precious time. Short hair is a blessing during the hot Summer days – in those days I am envied by many of my girl friends. Only time of the year I catch myself missing my long hair is during windy Winter days when I think my poor ears will probably fall off. I love to wear hats, especially beanies and fedoras, but this Winter I fell in love with this beautiful cloche hat by Sisley. Cloche hats first became popular in the 1920s, when they were worn by rebellious flapper girls who wanted to emulate boyish short haired look, but also to be feminine and sophisticated – I hope I also managed to that ๐Ÿ™‚ !

Diamonds and Backpacks

In today’s post, besides my outfit of course ๐Ÿ˜‰ , I wanna show you my latest little project! I’ve been sewing bags for a full year now, and the new skill I’ve learned was the perfect move for the handbag lover as myself.

I often end up with back pain form wearing my classical, always full, shoulders bags and I found it hard to find that one perfect backpack. Because of that I decided to make it myself! This backpack can be rearranged, and transformed to shoulder bag and messenger bag – who would have thought I would become practical in my 30s ๐Ÿ™‚ ?!

Diamonds themed dress, big statement necklace, my favorite Catwoman and I’m ready to go !

Oxford Babe

Last autumn I decided to find the perfect pair of shoes which I could wear in that awkward season period between wearing ballet flats and winter boots. As always, I decided to find them on the site I know the best – never ending wonder of E-bay !

After a long search I fell in love with these wonderful Oxford shoes by Iron Fist. They are very comfortable, easy to combine with all sorts of outfits – and I have to admit – when I wear them I just have an urge to dance in the rain – Fred Astaire style ๐Ÿ™‚ !

Green is the Warmest Color

Everyone one of us has a favorite color – that one color which is a little bit above all of the other ones. Although I’m a big colors fanatic ๐Ÿ˜‰ , you could probably guess by now that for me the favorite color is one and only – green. Since I was a little kid I preferred her in my wardrobe – green always had soothing and peaceful influence on me. Green is the color in which I feel most comfortable, and even at my home decorations I always prefer green details.

But on the other side green is a great color if you wanna stand out and run away from your safety zone – perfect color for eternal introvert/extrovert fight inside my head ๐Ÿ™‚ !

Hope you will enjoy these pictures, taken in beautiful little city Stobrec, located 10 minutes from my hometown Split and check out my all time favorite selection of green dresses, both in popular culture and on the fashion runways. And do tell me something about your color favorites!

Kisses!

Girl Who Fell On Earth

Last week I decided to sort out my jewelry collection, something I avoided for a very long period of time. After I was done I was really overwhelmed by it’s size – how did I manage to collect so many jewelry in these 30 years ๐Ÿ™‚ ?!!

After seeing all of the jewelry, finally systematic and in order, I realized how a huge part of my jewelry is full of different animal motives. All around me were cats, peacocks, snakes, bats, owls, ladybugs..and snails. You, you read right – snails ๐Ÿ™‚ !

Only one of my favorite Croatian jewelry designers, Daniel from Deni Design in ล ibenik, is able to create such wonderful pieces of art with snails as it’s main inspiration! I fell in love with this wonderful unique necklace from his “Nudist” collection and I’m proud to wear it.

All the pictures were taken in front of the church of St. Jerome from 15th century. The church is situated near the popular climbing cliffs on the hill Marjan in my hometown Split. Near the church are the caves which were homes of people who decided to live like recluses in their search for faith. Legend says that one of those recluses was St. Jerome himself.

Solace of this fascinating place and the rich history behind it, amazing sea views and this beautiful jewelry were a main inspiration behind today’s post.

Enjoy !

Crazy Little Thing Called LOVE ! – second wedding anniversary

I love September – It is my favorite month…not because I celebrate my birthday at the end of the month….I love it because I married the love of my love on that wonderful day, September 8th 2012.ย  ๐Ÿ™‚ !

My husband Marko and I wanted our wedding day to be relaxed and full of laughter, dance, good food and good music and to be shared with our closest family and friends. After seven years of relationship, and basically growing up together, we knew that in our wedding day we must stay true to ourselves. We wanted the outdoor venue, and we were blessed with a beautiful weather that day. The whole wedding had a vintage vibe – when you see our outfits you will get the picture! My favorite color is green and the whole wedding theme was green and white. We both love to dance and our first dance as a married couple was our little rendition of “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” by the group Queen – my all time favorite band.

Enough for introduction..hope you’ll enjoy selection of some of my favorite pics of that wonderful day…and read something about the history of modern day wedding dresses!

Lilacs and Parasols

Couple of weeks ago I receivedย  a beautiful giftย  – gift so precious that I’m still amazed by it and honored for receiving it. My friend and photographer Stela, together with her mother, gave me an old vintage cocktail dress that once belonged to her grandmother.

From a very early age I had fascination with fashion, but not only in terms of combining everyday outfits and eventually, taking pictures of some of them for this little blog – I love history of fashion, fabrics, stories behind various fashion items and people that made them.

Stela’s grandmother was a first class old school seamstress, and also a true fashionista. This beautiful dress with delicate lilac print has so much history behind her. It was made by vintage clothing firm Haroรบ, for which I found the following quote:

Not yet in his class is William Pearson, also a designer of talent. Mr. Pearson has had his own business for six of his 36 years before that working for Haroรบ, a California concern. His clothes have a young, contemporary look.” (1966) So, Pearson designed for Haroรบ”.

When I decided to do the post with this amazing dress my first thought was ” I gotta get myself a parasol! ” Truly, in my mind, no summer vintage look is complete without that perfect little accessorize. Now definitely a rarity in our everyday fashion, parasol is slowly making his return on fashion runway – and I hope it is here to stay ๐Ÿ™‚ !

All the pictures were taken in the front yard of “Ivan Mestrovic Gallery” in my hometown Split. This beautiful gallery is actually a family palace of one of our most famous sculptors, Ivan Mestrovic – if you ever visit Split you must check it out!

Enjoy!
