Back in Yellow !

Finally, after a long break, arrives my first post pregnancy post 🙂 ! First of all, I have to thank my friends Stela and Ivna for keeping this little blog alive with their amazing posts while I was trying to figure out my new mommy role.

My little baby girl Ena is now three and a half months old, and she has become our new partner whenever Stela and I manage some time to do photo shoots.

I thought it is appropriate to start this new fashion blogger / Ena’s mommy adventure in my colorful style – and which color is the best one two announce new life, new energy, new start? Of course, it’s splash of yellow!

Yellow is the color that captures our attention more than any other color. In almost every culture yellow represents sunshine, happiness, and warmth. It is the most visible color of the spectrum and the human eye processes yellow first. This explains why it is used for cautionary signs and emergency rescue vehicles.

It’s a primary color and so it’s the base of endless shades of colors. Yellow remains full, pure, and immune to all chromatic contamination.

It’s not an easy color to wear, and it looks better in contrast with black – add just a little bit of yellow to your everyday outfit, and trust me, you WILL be noticed 🙂

Enough with the small talk, let’s show you some pictures!

Everyone I meet, even random people on the street ask me about Ena’s pushchair. It’s by the fantastic British brand Cosatto, and it was love at first sight!

Split Falling

My maternity leave is still on, but there’s no need to worry, there are many new blog post ideas in this crazy head of mine 🙂 ! Until then, enjoy this new excellent blog post by Miss Stela and Miss Ivna 🙂 !

Kissess, Dina aka Miss Dee!

Well, fall is most certantly here. Yet, one of the most enchanting parts of early fall, at least here on the Mediterranean, is the fact that the sea is still hot enough to go swimming. Tell us, what could be better than having coffee in the city center and then enjoying an outing to the beach?

You have to dresses in style, and nothing is better suited for these “last days of the summer wine” as a breezy, simple white lace dress! Let’s take a look at what Ivna wore and how!

Baby Pink

One of my favorite fashion blogs is the one written by Miss Rebecca – “Winnipeg Style”. She has such a quirky and colorful style which I adore. Thanks to her post “Perfect Fall Coat” I discovered this wonderful Fall/Winter coat by brand Choies and totally fell in love with it. Rebecca bought hers in blue, but I wanted to do something totally opposite of my usual color choices and go with one color which is rarely seen in my wardrobe – pink.

I hated to wear anything pink as a child, but after long 30 years I finally decided to give that color a chance! What do you think about my baby pink coat and what are your feelings towards this girlie color?

Kisses and have a great weekend!

Dee

Walking the A-line

One of the main lady trends in the last couple of seasons is a true 50s classic – A line skirt. Usually reserved for those who love rockabilly subculture, A – line once again conquered fashion runways, and after that the streets.

A – line skirts are very feminine clothing item but I was a bit skeptical about wearing them – I have classical pear body shape and I didn’t want to draw to much of an attention on my hip area. But when I saw this wonderful printed skirt online I just couldn’t resist – she instantly reminded me on an old 50s movies and actresses I just love to watch!

All pictures were taken on Riva in my hometown Split, on a bit cold but wonderful sunny day 🙂 !

Kisses, Dee

Lover of Life, Lover of Prints

Recently I forced myself to rearrange my T-shirt collection. Some of them were way too old and were sadly thrown away, some of them I gave to my friends or cousins. I quickly realized how I have one constant, rarely changed pattern in my T-shirts, and that is my love for prints. When shopping, or just browsing through the different internet sites I’m always attracted to the printed clothing. Prints are here to show our interests – music, books, movies. You can wear ordinary monochromatic pants or skirts, but that one printed T-shirt lifts the outfit and gives her a brand new meaning.

This season Zara had some amazing prints in their collection and I couldn’t resist to this big haired, big eyed elegant lady! Hope you will like this look, kisses and have a great Christmas holidays ! :*

Diamonds and Backpacks

In today’s post, besides my outfit of course 😉 , I wanna show you my latest little project! I’ve been sewing bags for a full year now, and the new skill I’ve learned was the perfect move for the handbag lover as myself.

I often end up with back pain form wearing my classical, always full, shoulders bags and I found it hard to find that one perfect backpack. Because of that I decided to make it myself! This backpack can be rearranged, and transformed to shoulder bag and messenger bag – who would have thought I would become practical in my 30s 🙂 ?!

Diamonds themed dress, big statement necklace, my favorite Catwoman and I’m ready to go !

Crazy Little Thing Called LOVE ! – second wedding anniversary

I love September – It is my favorite month…not because I celebrate my birthday at the end of the month….I love it because I married the love of my love on that wonderful day, September 8th 2012.  🙂 !

My husband Marko and I wanted our wedding day to be relaxed and full of laughter, dance, good food and good music and to be shared with our closest family and friends. After seven years of relationship, and basically growing up together, we knew that in our wedding day we must stay true to ourselves. We wanted the outdoor venue, and we were blessed with a beautiful weather that day. The whole wedding had a vintage vibe – when you see our outfits you will get the picture! My favorite color is green and the whole wedding theme was green and white. We both love to dance and our first dance as a married couple was our little rendition of “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” by the group Queen – my all time favorite band.

Enough for introduction..hope you’ll enjoy selection of some of my favorite pics of that wonderful day…and read something about the history of modern day wedding dresses!

Lilacs and Parasols

Couple of weeks ago I received  a beautiful gift  – gift so precious that I’m still amazed by it and honored for receiving it. My friend and photographer Stela, together with her mother, gave me an old vintage cocktail dress that once belonged to her grandmother.

From a very early age I had fascination with fashion, but not only in terms of combining everyday outfits and eventually, taking pictures of some of them for this little blog – I love history of fashion, fabrics, stories behind various fashion items and people that made them.

Stela’s grandmother was a first class old school seamstress, and also a true fashionista. This beautiful dress with delicate lilac print has so much history behind her. It was made by vintage clothing firm Haroú, for which I found the following quote:

Not yet in his class is William Pearson, also a designer of talent. Mr. Pearson has had his own business for six of his 36 years before that working for Haroú, a California concern. His clothes have a young, contemporary look.” (1966) So, Pearson designed for Haroú”.

When I decided to do the post with this amazing dress my first thought was ” I gotta get myself a parasol! ” Truly, in my mind, no summer vintage look is complete without that perfect little accessorize. Now definitely a rarity in our everyday fashion, parasol is slowly making his return on fashion runway – and I hope it is here to stay 🙂 !

All the pictures were taken in the front yard of “Ivan Mestrovic Gallery” in my hometown Split. This beautiful gallery is actually a family palace of one of our most famous sculptors, Ivan Mestrovic – if you ever visit Split you must check it out!

Enjoy!

Sailor Girl !

Sorry for a little bit belated post but I’m having love and hate relationship with my laptop these days! The temperature is dangerously rising in Croatia, and for a very short period of time I managed to wear my, how I like to call it : “OMG, where I parked my yacht ?!” look 🙂

I love the pure simplicity of this look – with only three colors : white, red and navy blue, you can make numerous combinations of navy looks. These looks automatically give you a feeling of summer, nostalgia and old school elegance.

Enjoy!

Pretty Pleat

I still have a slight case of Barcelona blues :), but the last couple of days my hometown Split was finally in it’s sunshine mood. It is the perfect time for my collection of pleated skirts to see the light of the day. I have them in five different colors (white, yellow, green, black and turqoise), all bought on E-bay for 10 dollars each. They are perfect for spring/summer transition and can be paired with just about anything. I wear them with T-shirts, tank tops, jackets, sneakers or sandals. If you want some instant feminine touch, but also to feel modern and comfortable pleat is the perfect choice!
