Instant Chic

Three weeks ago one of my favorite Croatian designers, Robert Sever, launched a small capsule collection of clothing and accessories named “Instant Chic”. This beautiful and affordable collection was made in collaboration with main Croatian fashion internet page –ย  FASHION.HR, and sold in BIPA stores.

I couldn’t wait for the collection to come to the stores, and when it did it was everything I could hope for – trendy, chic, unique and elegant. My absolute favorites are beautiful printed belt and matching purse with tassel detail, trendy fringe belt and this simple but oh so perfect black and grey dress – perfect for the day at the job, but also for the evening outing!

Besides my take on this beautiful collection you can also check out some pictures and advices for the one trend that just keeps on going this season – use of fringe and tassels in our everyday clothing items. In the beginning I wasn’t the biggest fan of this trend, but later I started to love it – only if used with measure of course ๐Ÿ˜‰ !

Dee in Wonderland

One of my all time favorite books is “Alice in Wonderland” by Lewis Carroll. I got my first copy of this book for my 10th birthday – to this day is one of my favorite birthday presents ๐Ÿ™‚ !

“Alice in Wonderland’ is full of quirky characters, each one adding a bit of humor and dimension to the story. When Alice falls down the rabbit hole she enters in magical world of Wonderland where she encounters various talking animals, including Cheshire Cat, Caterpillar, White Rabbit, and one very unusual Queen.The first character she meets is The White Rabbit – he reappears throughout the book and acts as Alice’s guide, which is amusing because he doesn’t seem to know even what time it is ๐Ÿ™‚ !

The book is very complex and has a lot of symbolism conveyed through the characters and setting. Lewis Carroll intricately weaves a story using these characters to teach a lesson to children about growing up in an entertaining way. Each character teaches Alice something about life and growing up in a dangerous world.

“Alice in Wonderland” was a huge inspiration in music, movie and fashion industry and also became a source of inspiration to this little post –ย  hope you’ll like it ๐Ÿ™‚ !

Green is the Warmest Color

Everyone one of us has a favorite color – that one color which is a little bit above all of the other ones. Although I’m a big colors fanatic ๐Ÿ˜‰ , you could probably guess by now that for me the favorite color is one and only – green. Since I was a little kid I preferred her in my wardrobe – green always had soothing and peaceful influence on me. Green is the color in which I feel most comfortable, and even at my home decorations I always prefer green details.

But on the other side green is a great color if you wanna stand out and run away from your safety zone – perfect color for eternal introvert/extrovert fight inside my head ๐Ÿ™‚ !

Crazy Little Thing Called LOVE ! – second wedding anniversary

I love September – It is my favorite month…not because I celebrate my birthday at the end of the month….I love it because I married the love of my love on that wonderful day, September 8th 2012.ย  ๐Ÿ™‚ !

My husband Marko and I wanted our wedding day to be relaxed and full of laughter, dance, good food and good music and to be shared with our closest family and friends. After seven years of relationship, and basically growing up together, we knew that in our wedding day we must stay true to ourselves. We wanted the outdoor venue, and we were blessed with a beautiful weather that day. The whole wedding had a vintage vibe – when you see our outfits you will get the picture! My favorite color is green and the whole wedding theme was green and white. We both love to dance and our first dance as a married couple was our little rendition of “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” by the group Queen – my all time favorite band.

Strap on!

I always had tendency for some geometry in my wardrobe. In today’s fashion, thanks to different kinds of materials, clothing, shoes and jewelry can come to life in all forms and shapes.

One particular trend I like is use of straps in everyday fashion. Different use of straps in our wardrobe can give us feminine, but also very futuristic, even bondage vibe. They are usually used to accentuate the parts of our body that we wanna show off – used smartly, of course!

That effect is best shown in today’s classic, bandage dress by Herve Leger who used straps to the maximum.

Queen of the Jungle

Summer months are just perfect for the one trend which cannot go unnoticed – jungle print. I haven’t worn Desigual for a while ๐Ÿ˜‰ , so it’s time to return to my favorite fashion brand!

I found this beautiful dress at E-bay couple of years ago, again second hand, and it was of course, love at first sight. She just screams summer, jungle and wilderness.

For blog posts I first decide on outfit, and after it, with my biggest helper, photographer Stela, I decide on location.

We wanted to do the jungle themed post, but we couldn’t afford trip to Amazonian rain forest ๐Ÿ™‚ , so we hope that this jungle voyage with a little bit of help of Photoshop will do the trick ๐Ÿ™‚ !

Splendor in the grass

Every year during the Spring/Summer season we have one recurring fashion trend – flower prints. And boy, do I love that trend! Every year has some trend variations – one season there are tribal prints, other vintage feel of the 50s. It is easy to go overboard, so don’t use different flower fabrics in the same outfit. I will occasionally wear flower prints during the winter, probably on some jumpers or coats, just to cheer things up, but the Spring season is perfect one to empty out all of the flowers from your wardrobe and say hello to warm, sunny days ๐Ÿ™‚ !

She Wore Blue Velvet

โ€žBlue Velvetโ€œ, film noir by David Lynch, is one of those movies that you love or hate โ€“ myself being in the first group. The film brought back long forgotten โ€žnoirโ€œ genre for a new film audience, with a very important role of its music soundtrack and fashion. Until main femme fatale Isabella Rosselini had appeared in her blue velvet robe, the velvet wasn’t very popular material, but since then it has had its fashion revival. Every couple of years fashion designers give their hommage to blue velvet and the movie itself, with good or not so great results. Velvet is rather difficult fabric to work with, and not very easy to pull off when wearing โ€“ you certainly won’t wear it in your ordinary everyday outings. It is perfect for evening wear, and even today stands as a symbol of flamboyance with a touch of mistery, for which we all yearn in our lives.
