I still have a slight case of Barcelona blues :), but the last couple of days my hometown Split was finally in it’s sunshine mood. It is the perfect time for my collection of pleated skirts to see the light of the day. I have them in five different colors (white, yellow, green, black and turqoise), all bought on E-bay for 10 dollars each. They are perfect for spring/summer transition and can be paired with just about anything. I wear them with T-shirts, tank tops, jackets, sneakers or sandals. If you want some instant feminine touch, but also to feel modern and comfortable pleat is the perfect choice!

The (T)rench Connection
There are clothes …and then there are classics. One of them is definitely trench coat. I think every one of us owns some variation of the trench coat for those rainy Spring or Autumn days. I while ago I got my hands on this wonderful second-hand Burberry trench coat which I consider my prized possession.
One of my favorite movie scenes is the one from “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” when Audrey Hepburn (or Holly Golightly) is trying to catch her love interest Paul dressed in her trench coat.
Every time I put my trench coat on I feel like a part of an old school movie, and who doesn’t love to feel like that, if only for a couple of hours?
Plastic Fantastic
Last Spring you couldn’t turn around without seeing someone with plastic handbag or some kind of plastic accessories. Plastic materials were see-through or in all color variations popular for Spring, like greens and yellows…I wasn’t particular fan of that trend, but after some time I caught a plastic virus 🙂 . I love to wear plastic jewelry, especially all kinds of plastic rings and bracelets – they remind me so much on my childhood. You can wear most serious outfit, but add some plastic to it and you will find your inner child in a matter of seconds!
Splendor in the grass
Every year during the Spring/Summer season we have one recurring fashion trend – flower prints. And boy, do I love that trend! Every year has some trend variations – one season there are tribal prints, other vintage feel of the 50s. It is easy to go overboard, so don’t use different flower fabrics in the same outfit. I will occasionally wear flower prints during the winter, probably on some jumpers or coats, just to cheer things up, but the Spring season is perfect one to empty out all of the flowers from your wardrobe and say hello to warm, sunny days 🙂 !
Made in Croatia
Today’s post will be a rather patriotic one….no, don’t worry, I won’t sing our national anthem or something like that 🙂 ! This photo shoot was taken on a beautiful sunny day in my hometown Split. Me and my friend Stela who took pictures (with my low quality camera, because my husband took the better camera for his backpacking trip, grrrr) were over the top that day. Gorgeous weather, sunshine, sea, amazing views….they just made us think how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful town and such a beautiful country.
Most of my outfit which I wore that day was made in Croatia, so today I will present you some of my favorite Croatian brands and designers. There are so many great designers here, some better known and some lesser known, but all amazingly talented, so you can expect them more in some of my future posts, but these ones would be my Top 5 !
If you have any of your own suggestions be sure to write them in the comments!
Enjoy 🙂 !
Pop Art stole my heart
Today is a rather special day! Besides the fact that today is the first day of Spring, there is one other small fact – this is my 30th post, hooray 🙂 ! One of the main goals when I started to do this blog (besides showing you my obsession with Desigual 😉 ), was to show some of the amazing Croatian designers. Croatia is a a rather small country, but artistic talent here is huge, in my humble opinion 🙂 !
I love this skirt by very talented Croatian designer Zoran Aragovic from Bite My Style fashion design, and she inspired me for today’s topic – Pop Art, and it’s neverending influence in fashion and design. I love my clothes to be colorful and bold, and this outfit doesn’t fail me in that department – hope you’ll enjoy it!
Are you ready, Freddie?
I love Freddie Mercury and Queen. No…I ADORE Freddie Mercury and Queen. I love so many bands and so many performers, but for me Freddie and Queen always were and always will be my number one. Love them or hate them, you cannot ignore pure talent and charisma from all of the band members. And what about Freddie? An epitome of rock star and true band front man. The Voice. Songwriting skills. Drama and flamboyance. The mustache 🙂 . He had it all. I would give my right arm in a blink of an eye for the opportunity, an honor to see them live…but without Freddie..I don’t see the point.
For this year carnival in my home town Split I decided to go as…well, you can guess…one and only, Freddie Mercury, darlings. I choose one specific outfit of Freddie which I particularly like – yellow jacket and white pants which he wore on his very last tour with Queen in 1986. Queen were on the verge of break up, but their unforgettable performance on Live Aid gave them new love for Queen and each other. Soon after, they recorded the new album, went on their biggest tour ever…and Freddie managed to make an opera album – all in two years span!
My friend Stela joined me as Freddie’s dear friend, Spanish opera singer Montserrat Caballe, and with my sister I tried to re-enact the famous picture of Freddie sitting on the back of no other than Darth Vader 🙂 .
We had so much fun, hope you’ll enjoy!
Times are hard for dreamers, Amelie
I think everyone of us has a film to which we often return. I watched film „Amelie“ so many times, but it never fails to cheer me up. Busy and colorful streets of Paris, eccentric characters, vibrant colors and fashion are a recipe for the perfect movie night. The movie soundtrack is one of my favorites, and by listening to it I feel immersed in the wonderful world of adventure, traveling and love.
And what is life without colors, imagination and eccentricity?
Definitely not the life I would like to live!
Flapper Girl
In the last couple of months I have revived my love for one specific movie genre – musicals. The last one I watched has been „Cabaret“, starring Liza Minnelli, who won an Oscar for best actress for her performance in 1972.
I’m so amazed by her movie styling – short bob haircut, huge eyelashes and intensive make-up with some amazing outfits. I especially love her „flapper 20s“ styling in „Money“ musical number.

“Wuthering Heights” on my mind
Approaching Valentine’s Day, this horrible, stormy and grey weather in my hometown inspired me for today’s blog post.
There are so many wonderful love stories in history of the world, but I doubt there is one so fatalistic, wild, and eventually unhappy as the love story between Catherine and Heathcliff, main characters of Emily Bronte’s masterpiece, and her only work, „Wuthering Heights“. I was very young when I first read this book and I found it way too intense and hard to read, but several years and more love experiences later 🙂 I learned to love it.
The whole book is situated in rather depressing and wild English moors – they are actually the thing Emily Bronte knew the best because she grew up in a similar surrounding. It is fascinating how much passion she put into her book and in her characters – especially for a person who rarely left her home and never had any known relationships. One can only wonder how deep and intriguing her imagination and her own inner world were.
She left this world way too early, but she lives through her passionate heroes and new generations of loyal fans and admirers.
I caught an influenca after shooting this set of photographs – suffering for the art indeed 🙂 !
