Lover of Life, Lover of Prints

Recently I forced myself to rearrange my T-shirt collection. Some of them were way too old and were sadly thrown away, some of them I gave to my friends or cousins. I quickly realized how I have one constant, rarely changed pattern in my T-shirts, and that is my love for prints. When shopping, or just browsing through the different internet sites I’m always attracted to the printed clothing. Prints are here to show our interests – music, books, movies. You can wear ordinary monochromatic pants or skirts, but that one printed T-shirt lifts the outfit and gives her a brand new meaning.

This season Zara had some amazing prints in their collection and I couldn’t resist to this big haired, big eyed elegant lady! Hope you will like this look, kisses and have a great Christmas holidays ! :*

Cloche hats and Green-eyed Cats

Having a short hair has its benefits. If you are always late and running from one place to another like me, it is really a perfect style – you can wash and dry it in a matter of minutes, without loosing to much of that precious time. Short hair is a blessing during the hot Summer days – in those days I am envied by many of my girl friends. Only time of the year I catch myself missing my long hair is during windy Winter days when I think my poor ears will probably fall off. I love to wear hats, especially beanies and fedoras, but this Winter I fell in love with this beautiful cloche hat by Sisley. Cloche hats first became popular in the 1920s, when they were worn by rebellious flapper girls who wanted to emulate boyish short haired look, but also to be feminine and sophisticated – I hope I also managed to that πŸ™‚ !

Diamonds and Backpacks

In today’s post, besides my outfit of course πŸ˜‰ , I wanna show you my latest little project! I’ve been sewing bags for a full year now, and the new skill I’ve learned was the perfect move for the handbag lover as myself.

I often end up with back pain form wearing my classical, always full, shoulders bags and I found it hard to find that one perfect backpack. Because of that I decided to make it myself! This backpack can be rearranged, and transformed to shoulder bag and messenger bag – who would have thought I would become practical in my 30s πŸ™‚ ?!

Happy First Birthday “Miss Dee STyle” Blog :) !

Today “Miss Dee STyle” blog celebrates it’s first birthday! Even writing that sentence makes me feel emotional on so many levels. Having a fashion blog and be able to share my love for everything colorful and unique was an idea for a long period of time, but a year ago I finally decided to give it a try. It started like a very small and humble page with rather modest viewing statistics, but like a small child it started to grow up and have a life of it’s own πŸ™‚

It brought me so many new friends and acquaintances, primarily from Croatia and Bosnia, and later from the rest of the world.

The main goal of “Miss Dee STyle” was to show my love for clothing, fashion and handcrafts. I consider myself a rather geeky woman so behind every post, behind every picture has to be a story, a certain theme, something that inspires me in my everyday life. All of the outfits were inspired by something – movies, books, painters, historical events or persons – I love and admire.

I wanna thank every single one of you for reading these posts, watching these pictures, your comments…they all mean a world to me!

My husband, my family, my friends are such a great inspiration and I wanna thank them for their support πŸ™‚

Last, but most important thank you goes to my friend and photographer Stela who always encourages me and through this time was my biggest supporter! Thank you girlie!

For today’s birthday post I decided to put the pictures of all the looks featured in the blog in it’s first year. Below every picture is a link for the blog post in which that particular look was featured –Β  hope you’ll enjoy it!

Kisses from Miss Dee !

“I am Catwoman. Hear me roar.”

The night crept over the Gotham City calmly like a silken scarf. From the distance, rhythmical clacking of the city subway echoes, blended between the sounds of police sirens, chaos of the traffic jams and barks of strayed dogs. Fumes of the factories, the smog, the waste and the thick led sky. This, is my city; this is my jungle. For all of you who might not know, the name is Selina… Selina Kyle. Who am I actually? Perhaps you caught a glimpse of me in your wildest fantasies… and your most hidden fears. Because this is my jungle. And in that jungle, I am the meanest cat of them all. I am – the Catwoman; hear me roar!

Tree of Life

On September 25th I turned the big 30 πŸ™‚ ! Prior to my 30th birthday I started to wonder a little bit more than usual about my life choices so far. There were always some bad ones and a lot of good ones, but all of them shaped me in the person I am today. One thing I learned (and even have it as a tattoo on my back!) is to never be afraid of making choices and decisions. “Show yourself, destroy your fears, release your mask!” are powerful verses from the Queen’s song Innuendo, and I try to remember them and incorporate them in my everyday life.

I was so touched with one of my birthday presents – handbag with motif of “Tree of Life” – quite appropriate for my jubilee birthday. Tree of life is a symbol of a connection between ourselves, nature and the whole universe we live in. I cannot wait to see what my very own tree of life is preparing for me in the future πŸ™‚ .

Green is the Warmest Color

Everyone one of us has a favorite color – that one color which is a little bit above all of the other ones. Although I’m a big colors fanatic πŸ˜‰ , you could probably guess by now that for me the favorite color is one and only – green. Since I was a little kid I preferred her in my wardrobe – green always had soothing and peaceful influence on me. Green is the color in which I feel most comfortable, and even at my home decorations I always prefer green details.

But on the other side green is a great color if you wanna stand out and run away from your safety zone – perfect color for eternal introvert/extrovert fight inside my head πŸ™‚ !

Hope you will enjoy these pictures, taken in beautiful little city Stobrec, located 10 minutes from my hometown Split and check out my all time favorite selection of green dresses, both in popular culture and on the fashion runways. And do tell me something about your color favorites!

Kisses!

Girl Who Fell On Earth

Last week I decided to sort out my jewelry collection, something I avoided for a very long period of time. After I was done I was really overwhelmed by it’s size – how did I manage to collect so many jewelry in these 30 years πŸ™‚ ?!!

After seeing all of the jewelry, finally systematic and in order, I realized how a huge part of my jewelry is full of different animal motives. All around me were cats, peacocks, snakes, bats, owls, ladybugs..and snails. You, you read right – snails πŸ™‚ !

Only one of my favorite Croatian jewelry designers, Daniel from Deni Design in Ε ibenik, is able to create such wonderful pieces of art with snails as it’s main inspiration! I fell in love with this wonderful unique necklace from his “Nudist” collection and I’m proud to wear it.

All the pictures were taken in front of the church of St. Jerome from 15th century. The church is situated near the popular climbing cliffs on the hill Marjan in my hometown Split. Near the church are the caves which were homes of people who decided to live like recluses in their search for faith. Legend says that one of those recluses was St. Jerome himself.

Solace of this fascinating place and the rich history behind it, amazing sea views and this beautiful jewelry were a main inspiration behind today’s post.

Enjoy !

Zip It !

My post from the last week, “Istanbul the Magnificent”, ended with the picture of all of the purchases I made in that beautiful city. One of those purchases is this beautiful, flower printed dress. I love to wear flower prints in all the seasons, but you cannot miss with them in hot summer days.

I was especially attracted to this dress because of one little detail which makes her a bit more special – zipper on her front side. It is quite normal to put hidden zippers to the back side of the dress, but this obvious, “in your face” front zipper was that final touch why I fell in love with this dress – he is not there just for function – he is there to make a fashion statement of his own!
